It's Another Post!!!

Wow - 2 blog posts in one weekend.  I'm on a roll.

I'm still way behind.  This is from last weekend - opening weekend for baseball, or t-ball, whichever you prefer.

There was a parade, there were banners.  There was cold weather if you can believe it.  It wasn't freezing (thank goodness since the boys were out there over 2 hours), but it wasn't warm either.  Here are the Braves filing into their field.  John is David's coach this year and another former coach we know is the assistant.  We think it's going to be a great season!
This was the field after all the teams were in.  I don't think you can tell, but each team had a banner and they stood behind the banner.  It would have been cool to have a wide-angle lens for this shot.  I'm not hinting, I'm really not.  I don't understand how I'd know to switch out my lens and switch it back to get this kind of a shot.  Do you have to have multiple cameras to do that kind of stuff on the fly?  And then do you have to carry around a suitcase of cameras & lenses everywhere you go?  I'm not so good with all this photography stuff. Each team paraded around the field again.  Do you like our banner?  I love that I got all the credit for making it.  I didn't have a thing to do with it.  John did it by himself on Friday (this was on Saturday) while I was at work.Katherine is TOTALLY into the parade.  She's digging it.So what I didn't know was that there was a competition for the BEST banner!!  No lie - John won.  I was cracking up (which was quite awkward since I was there by myself with Katherine - people did look at me weird).  They got a trophy and everything.  SO funny!!!  Maybe John's the one that should be doing the blogging and scrapbooking!!Our assistant coach taking his turn with the trophy - like it's the Stanley Cup and they each get to touch it now that the team has won it.What's opening day at the ballpark without a weird dude in a big costume? This is Austin & David.  Austin's family is dear friends of ours...that is until we meet them on the field.  Then it's game time. And here is the above-mentioned dear family.  Aren't they just adorable?  They need to get Emma some black.David's first game was that afternoon.  It did warm up nicely and the sun finally came out.  It was a perfect afternoon for a baseball (t-ball) game.   David played pitcher for the first inning.  The first ball that was hit went straight to him, he threw a rocket to first base, the first baseman actually CAUGHT it (a feat in under-6 t-ball) and we got the kid out.Now I suppose I should share the rules of our town's t-ball.  In our division (under 6), there really aren't any "rules."  Each player hits each inning.  There are no outs, so even when we got that kid out on the first play, he did still run all the bases.  Every time a kid hits, all the runners advance one base.  When the last player on the team hits, they all complete their run.  Yep, every single boy makes a hit, run and RBI every time they go to bat.  Way to teach the boys the game people, cuz that's how it works.  Geez.

So David's first at bat was pretty fun too.  He and John have been practicing for a while now and David's actually doing very well in our backyard.  Add in the pressure of an audience and other teammates though and it can be a lot for a 5-year-old!  So, he did get a hit.  He also got to first base - and he did finally make a run.  Although, all of them did, so I'm not sure if that's good or not.So, aside from the confusing no-rules t-ball, Katherine got a new cute outfit.  I know...earth shattering news.  I tried to get a picture, but this one is fuzzy.  Sorry about that...trust me, its a cute outfit. For the occasion of the first wearing of this cute outfit, we went out to dinner with John's mom, grandmother, cousin and his family.  We had a great time getting caught up with everyone.

Katherine's showing off her sign-language skilz.  This is "more."This is "please."
So fast forward through the week...and here is just a random cute picture. Katherine loves her milk.  She loves her straw.  She also loves to work those blue eyes with her Mommy!
Okay, don't look now, but Katherine has an actual, bonified, true rubber-band held, bow decorated PONY-TAIL in her hair!!!!!  I know, the excitement never ceases around our house.

And she looks totally thrilled about the whole situation, doesn't she?

She uses her new cutsie look well...she chooses to pick up a book and read it.  Upside down.  Good job.
It doesn't take long before her inner monkey takes over.
Balancing quite precariously on the edge of the step...
And sitting down to read another book.
In other news of milestones, she's quite the independent thinker.  She wants to do many things herself, most of which she is not yet able to handle.  For example, she wants to put on her socks and shoes.  She also wants to buckle her shoes.  She wants to comb her own hair, wash herself in the bath and buckle every buckle that has ever buckled her.

This weekend, she decided she wanted to feed herself.  Hey, I'm as adventurous as the next Mom, so I'll let her give it a try.

Not sure how well Lesson #1 went, but we'll keep at it.

Thanks for tuning in to the Ferguson blog...coming to you twice in one weekend!!!!

Happy Easter to the Ferguson Four--and thanks, as always, for sharing the family adventures. By the way-did the banner make it through this week's games?

In E town, we play REAL T-ball ;-) Love the ponytail in Katherine's hair. That is exciting to the mom of a little girl. That's great that John won the banner contest. Jason was really the one helping Cole with his award winning Dr Seuss, Green Eggs and Ham hat so I can relate. Real men make crafts right?!?

Audrey's in that independent stage too. If I say, Let Mommy help, she starts shaking her head and says "NO! AUDREY help!" I tried to brush her hair after her bath and she ran off screaming down the hall because she wanted to do it all by herself.

Nice Banner. Go Dad! That's too cool they awarded a trophy too. If scrapbooking gave out trophies...I *might* consider it. ;-)

Love the hair bow! That is a big Girlie milestone! Her new outfit is sooo cute. I love the signing. That stuff comes in very handy.

Its great to see the Thurmans on here too!
