Katherine turned 6 months old on Thursday! I can't even believe that she's already been here for 6 months. It seems like it's been a month. Why does time fly by so quickly?
Her brother wanted to get in on the action of the monthly growth pictures, and of course, a camera-happy mommy is happy to oblige. She kept trying to eat her hands (you would too, right? They're tasty!!) so we told David to hold her hand. We really meant to hold it sweet looking, but this is what he did.
It looks like he's got her pinned and he's happy about it. Katherine, not so much.
Here's the 6 month teddy bear picture. She's just getting so big!
The 6 month bunny picture was full of a seriously upset 6-month-old, so I won't even put it on here. She does NOT like the bunny. Not sure what that's about.
We're teaching her to save her money...
Ehhh, why not, eat the money too.
On Friday, it was time for her to start a new veggie! I saved the messiest for last, so we tried carrots! Everyone remember how they stain EVERYTHING orange?!!? Well, Gerber must have figured out a way to process the carrots or preserve the carrots in a way as to make them less staining. I don't know about the bibs yet, but it came right off her face! I seem to remember David showing a slight orange tint for a few hours after eating baby-food carrots.
Anyway, she liked them! I think the squish is still her fav, but carrots might be a close second.
Once again, the first bite was a little shocking:
But a few bites in and she's loving it!
Today, David had a t-ball game at 9. Whew - I'm really glad we had the early game this week. It was HOT HOT HOT outside! I can't imagine the 11:00 game today - yuck! After the game, Katherine and I headed over to a NICU reunion where she was born! The nurses were all there, and Katherine even got a picture with my labor & delivery nurse, Irene. She was great, and seemed to remember me. Well, how many times do they see post partum women with brain swelling - I guess I'm somewhat memorable in that regard.
Anyway, they oooohhhh'ed and aaaahhhhh'ed over Katherine which was wonderful. My 2 favorite NICU nurses were there too and they were all loving Katherine's rolls! Not many of the other little babies there were roll-y like our Katie Beth! In fact, a 7 month old baby was quite a bit smaller than her. Yep, my girl hasn't missed many meals.
David is giving us all kinds of "-isms" these days. He & I were talking about temperatures and he did 100 minus 70 in his head really fast, just as part of the conversation. He's started saying "that's interesting" to us a lot. Usually he'll ask a question and when we tell him the answer, that's his response. Also today he asked us "What's bigger than our house?" I told him that lots of buildings are - like where Daddy & I both work, those buildings are bigger than our house. He said, "Be honest Mommy, I've never seen those buildings" all serious! (He has seen my office, but he doesn't remember.) He's also being absolutely wonderful to his sister. Today she and I came late to his t-ball game and he saw us for the first time when he was going up to bat. He just HAD to come over to the fence, peer over at Katherine and yell, "HEY PRETTY!!" to her, then go hit the ball. What a good big brother! The parents got a kick out of that one.
Hope y'all are having a great weekend!!

The piggy bank is just greatness. Lily still plays with hers. Super cute pics of the kiddos too. First squish and now carrots? She's a good little eater!
That's funny about David holding her arms down. He followed directions! The teddy bear picture is one of my favorites so far. So sweet. It's great that he loves his little sister so much and isn't at the age yet where it's not cool to express it in front of his friends.
I just love "Hey Pretty" comment. I bet all of the other parents did love that!
