John had a brainstorm and decided to tell David that every time he caught David leaving a light on, he'd charge him $0.05. It backfired on Mommy. See, I'm not the best at this skill either. So, the first time I left a light on, David noticed it and asked Daddy if he could GET $0.05 every time he caught Mommy leaving a light on! "Of course!" Daddy says, because Daddy's nice and generous like that. And so it began. Now we have become a bit obsessive about lights and turning them off. David's probably lost $0.20 or so and made about $0.15 of it back. I told John he created a little "green" monster!
Another little habit we want to rid David of is saying "WHATEVER!" to us. He says it in a nasty little tone with attitude when he wants to blow us off. Yeah, it's real nice coming out of the mouth of an almost-5-year-old. Anyway, at the lunch table today, David said, "Can you start taking some money away from me when I say 'Whatever'?" I told him it wasn't very smart to ask us to take money away. John told me, "Nope, look where he's going with this." Sure enough, the next thing out of his mouth, "And I can MAKE money when Mommy says it!" Little twerp.
This weekend we also had a date night on Friday night through our church. They keep the kids for a few hours and we get a date - it's really wonderful! John and I ate at Love & War in Texas, then we walked around Grapevine Mills Mall a little bit. It was nice to have some time alone!
Saturday night, for church, I dressed Katherine up in this A.DOR.A.BLE. outfit I got in Canton with my two of my BFF's. They got matching ones for their daughters, so now I just need those pictures (hint, hint) and I'll try my mad Photoshop skilz to get them all together!
Oh yeah, now she's workin' it.
So, we had a great weekend! We're ready for this week (we think). On the calendar, this looks like a busy one, but it will be packed full of super fun stuff...so more to come!

Gorgeous dress! I love the accessories too: adorable shoes and headband & bow. I think my PC is overheating. ;-) I need to get a pic of Lily in her dress. They are the cutest dresses. Yay for Canton!!
That is hilarious about David's "Charge Mommy" tactic. Brillant actually! Yeah, "Whatever", right?! ;-)
Wow, she is a chunky (healthy) monkey...and I wouldn't want it any other way. La-la-love that dress. And yes, Cindy, you are such a tree hugger for charger your son for electricity. Go green monster!
We had to explain to David that for him to say "Whatever" to Mommy and Daddy with an attitude is different than Mommy saying it to Daddy with an attitude. I am going with David on this one.
Saving money on electricity and getting more respect around the house, this was a brilliant plan. It is pretty cool to have a kid around the house old enough to pick up after himself, get stuff for Daddy, and carry out Daddy's secret agenda.
She looks super cute in her dress. It's fun to get cute outfit (and cute baby) attention when out and about. I haven't even tried Audrey's on. I better hurry before she outgrows it! It's hard when kids try to turn the rules back on you. This weekend I said something on tv was ugly and Cole said, "Mom, we don't say ugly." very matter of factly.
Wow... I'd almost forgotten the "fun" of having a child who outsmarts you regularly. Now just wait for the "fun" of said child being a teen! Remember how cute my sassy boy was at age 5? Look out! And John, you and David scheming against Cindy... that's just scary!
Katherine and her coordinated outfit are just too cute. Great job, mom!
I can't wait for the end of your busy week. Counting the days!
