A "meme" is a sort of bloggy way of getting to know other bloggers. You "tag" someone to do this (resembles a chain letter from snail mail days) and you read their answers and you learn about them. So, my seester tagged me for a meme (rhymes with dream) that she really should have known I would be horrible at. See, I have no memory, and I don't really like to watch movies, and I haven't seen anything non-animated in about 5 years (well, with a notable exception on my birthday this year, but honestly, can't remember the name of that movie...see reason code #1).
So, here goes...
The rules of the meme:
1. List your top ten favorite films (in no particular order).
2. If you're tagged, you've got to post & tag 3-5 other people.
3. Give a tag back (some link love) to the one who tagged you in your post
4. Give a hat tip (HT) to Dan.
Nope, not a clue who in the world Dan is, nor exactly how to give him a so-called Hat Tip, so I'm gonna flunk my first meme.
Remember...no memory, no movies recently...
1. Pretty Woman - see, told ya. OLD movie, but it's a goodie. I could recite the whole thing. Sad, but true. The plot is terrible, huh? A prostitute turns good and gets rescued by a prince in a limo. Yeah, whatever.
2. Princess Bride - my sister might say I copied, but I do believe this was the first movie John & I ever watched together, so you know, it's SPECIAL!
3. 8 Seconds - another oldie...and probably most people don't really like it, but I was a HUGE Luke Perry fan then and well, he actually acted pretty well in this movie. It was also the first movie that ever made me cry. I didn't know the story before I watched the movie, so I didn't know what was coming. Also, after this movie, pretty much everything makes me cry. There's even a Saturn commercial...I digress.
4. The Notebook - speaking of crying...wow - this one made me sob. Sob, and sob and sob. In fact, I got all the way home from the movie theater and was STILL sobbing after watching it. I've seen it a second time now and sobbed again. Ummm, it's a tear jerker.
5. Brokeback Mountain - GOTCHA!! No, I've never seen that movie. That's sort of an inside joke for a certain part of my family by law. That is, if this person even still READS my blog!!!
6. Does that last one count? I'm running out of ideas here!
7. Wow - only 3 more to come up with. Okay, I'm gonna be a loser. I love anything that is a plotless love story or a (really funny) comedy. I don't like action movies, I don't like mysteries. I figure I have enough stress in my life, I don't need to be stressed at the movies.
8. Here's one I'm actually embarrassed to admit - American Pie. Yes, I've seen it, yes, it's a TERRIBLE movie and if my kids watch it before they're 30, I'll puke. Oh wait, they do enough of that in the movie. Anyway, it's funny and that's why I like it. Same goes for "There's Something About Mary".
9. Goodness, this is really tough!! Okay...Dirty Dancing. Nobody puts Baby in a corner.
10. It took me 30 minutes to come up with #10 (that's really only #8) so I'm gonna go with Legally Blonde. I just love the "dumb" blonde making it big with the lawyers. And I'm a huge Reese fan.
There you have it. Most of you that read this blog don't have blogs of your own, so I'm kind of limited. I tag Sally (private blog), The JStreeters (come on Stolman, you know you want to make a blog...here's your chance!), Meme (pronounced me me), and Wendy. The 3 of you without blogs can just email me!!
So umm, I'm not so good with a movie meme, but I could rock it with a favorite TV show meme!

That will take me a while too. I don't see many movies these days either. I'm with you on Pretty Woman, I actually do recite it word for word when I watch it though. It drives Jason crazy.
