So when I got home from work on Thursday, John had a present for me! It was a BRAND NEW AWESOME FLASH for my camera!! Here's the first picture I took with it - in the car, twisted around to see David watching his video. I'll post 2 pictures showing the difference with and without the flash later...running out of room on this post. Anyway, this is pretty much what David looked like all the way to Austin.
On the way there, we stopped to see a cave in Georgetown called Innerspace Cavern. It was the first one David had ever seen (and the first I'd seen since I was about David's age). It was cool when we first entered the cave, but by the time we got to the end of the tour, it was incredibly humid, and as you can see from the picture below, I had Katherine in the Bjorn and she and I were HOT!! It was a pretty neat cave though - very entertaining. The only part we didn't like was when the guide went in to his, "Millions of years ago when this cave was formed..." schpeel. John and I just looked at each other - "Science" starts young I guess.
Anyway, here are some cave pics.
When we were done at the cave, we headed to a Steak & Shake for lunch. It was the same exit as we took to go to Lake Travis, so it was convenient, and you know, nice & healthy.
We stayed at a condo on Lake Travis. We went swimming when we first arrived in the infinity pool. Katherine really took to the water! She had a great time.
Aside: what exactly is the definition of a condo anyway? Is it a nice apartment where you can buy one unit? The one we stayed in had 12 units per building, probably 6 or 7 buildings. The one we stayed in was for sale. It was a VERY spacious 1,440 sq ft, and you can buy it for a BARGAIN price of $315k. Umm, sign me up?!?! No way man!
Anyway, we left the lake and headed to my sister's house for the graduation PARTAY!
David, he was READY for the PARTAY!!
When we got there, his cousin (new graduate) Bradley showed him that they too have a Wii. You better know that David noticed that ALL his cousins have a Wii and he is quite left out. Yes, yes, the Wii for his 5th birthday is "hidden" in plain sight in our room where it has been for about a month now. He's never noticed.
I don't have very many PARTAY pictures because my daughter, she wasn't so into the party. She screamed, cried, generally made a nuisance of herself, so we had to leave early. I'm quite sure the party took quite the turn after the screaming four-month-old left!
The next morning (at FIVE O'CLOCK IN THE AM!!!) David and John left for their fishing expedition. I didn't really know that 5:00 am existed when you're staying in a condo (or apartment-you-can-buy) on vacation, but I guess I missed the boat on fishing (oh, now I'm just really FUNNY!!)
Here's David's fishing video - edited by the pro in our house - John.
While the boys fished, Katherine and I hung out in the condo (or apartment-you-can-buy). This was the view from our patio in the morning. It was really cloudy, and I had my (NEW!!) flash on, pointed out toward the trees right in front of our patio.
When David and John made it home from fishing, David had a little snack. I got out the camera to capture the moment, and for some reason, he kept doing this pose. I'm not sure what this is about...maybe he's seeing himself as a future rock star?!?!
Then we went to the pool. That would come to be our mantra for our remaining time at Lake Travis - "go to the pool". Katherine is sleeping as everyone else swims. My sister came out to join us too, so of course, that was GREAT fun!
Later, David was talking to Katherine and all of the sudden, she started really cracking up! All he said the first time was, "Can you say Mama?!" She just giggled! Then...well, you can see the video. John's so good with the videos and the editing.
The best line on the drive home was David's, "Daddy, my eyes keep wanting to close."
Really? Do you want to let them?
Katherine slept the WHOLE way home and David even slept for about an hour. It made for a very peaceful trip! When we got home, everyone was tired & grumpy, but this seemed to keep Katherine happy:
We may have another DS in our house soon. That has to do wonders for a four-month-old's hand/eye coordination, right?!?!
Also, Sunday was our 12 year wedding anniversary - I love you sweetie! Thank you for the most amazing 12 years of my life and I can't wait to see what's in store for the the next 12!! I love you!
Whew, I'm beat. There has already been much going on with the Ferguson Four this week. David started swimming lessons and also had his first t-ball practice tonight. We'll post pictures later. My fingers are tired.

Mark and I have been reading all the latest news from your weekend--what a fun time in one of our favorite places--the heart of Texas Hill Country!! I'll have to give you the real estate definition of a condo before you stay in one again.
What fun--and very happy anniversary from Lubbock!
Love to all, Meme
Great post. Love all the pictures! Looks like that flash is working wonderfully!! I love the Spelunker David pictures. His Rock Star pose is greatness. Congrats on 12 years of marriage!
Sounds like a great weekend. The infinity pool and view of the lake are awesome. David looks so proud of the fish he caught. Happy Anniversary. Katherine's lucky to have a big brother to entertain her and David's lucky to have a new audience to show all his "tricks" too.
I figured out how to leave a comment! You better watch out what you say about Aggies :) The pics are sooo cute, bring her to work soon!
What a fun weekend! Can't believe David hasn't noticed the "hidden" Wii. At least it will still be a fun surprise! The videos are darling, too. My husband is not quite the editor that John is. Oh well!
Oh, that video of Katherine is fabulous. Didn't think it was possible, but your new flash just might make David look even cuter.
So, where's your days to iPhone counter???
