Monday Through Thursday

David started swimming lessons this week. He went every evening from 6-7 Monday through Thursday and we'll continue all week next week. He's doing very well, obeying his teachers, and really trying hard to swim. He's not there yet, but I think we're making some good progress.

We all went on Tuesday night and David got to jump off the diving board - from one teacher to the other one. The one in the water is on a noodle, she's not treading water catching the kids - although THAT would have been impressive!
She told him to swim to the ladder - I think he's too busy smiling to worry about swimming.
Immediately after swimming on Tuesday, we went to his first t-ball practice. My "photography" skills were not in good form, so I only have one decent picture from practice. In my defense, I was dealing with a very fussy Katherine!!
And here's an adorable picture of David while I was messing with my new flash.
Demonstrating how he can build a house (!?!?)
I was taking several pictures of him and he begged me to take one of him with his eyes closed. I'm not sure what that's about, but here it is:
Katherine is really starting to enjoy her time in the jumper. She's actually jumping and playing with the toys on it. She does smile, I promise, but not very often and if she sees the camera, no way will she crack. This girl has cheeks of steel! I think she thinks her smile will get her things, so she doesn't want to overuse it and lose some of its power. She's already manipulating us!
I told y'all David was a great big brother - here's more proof - he gives her a hug and kiss every night before bed.

And here is a comparison of photos with and without my new flash! Both pictures are un-edited. The first one was taken with my external flash, pointed toward the ceiling so the light bounced off and made a more natural light. The second picture is with the new flash removed and the pop-up flash on the camera used. You can see it will wash her out when the camera is too close. I can easily avoid this by taking the picture from farther back and zooming, but the new flash definitely works much better!

I'm actually going to get to spend some time scrapbooking this weekend! It's the first time I've gone to a crop since Katherine was born. I'm really excited to get something accomplished in either one of the kids' scrapbooks! Katherine's hasn't even been started - I might be banned from scrapbooking for admitting that.

What great pictures--your camera (and its operator) makes for a terrific post. David may be ahead of Cousin Lauren with the swimming skills-he can teach her when he comes to Lubbock, and then Katherine will be next!

Does David ask you to take pictures of his toys? I can't tell you how many pictures of Cole's cars I've taken and deleted! It will be fun to start on Katherine's scrapbook and get to use all the pink, girly, floral products.

Those are great swim pictures. I remember swimming lessons. They are scary (well, for me) but David looks like a natural. The resemblance of Katherine and David is amazing! Ooo- the flash bouncing is nice. I like the natural looking light from the flash best.
