Horses, Race Cars, and Food, OH MY!

Well, once again, it's been way too long since I've posted. The taming of two kids, working full time, and whatever else we have going on must be taking priority over this blog. I sincerely apologize.

Now, on with it.

Last weekend was jam packed! It started on Friday with David's end-of-school picnic. It was actually a little bit surreal for me, knowing that my little boy is about to start kindergarten and this event at pre-school is just one milestone closer to that first day in the fall when my first born begins his education. Wow.

Friday night, I had dinner with my aunt who was in town. She is one of my mom's younger sisters (my mom has 7). It was great to catch up with her and it was also her first time to meet Katherine.

Here is a picture of my girl showing her push-ups!

And this is what Katherine looks like to her mobile:

Saturday we had Katherine's BFF and her mommy & daddy over for lunch. Even though they are MUCH younger than us ;-), we had a great time. It's always fun to get to know other parents with kids the same age; but it's even better when we can share the foundation of raising our children: our faith in Jesus Christ. Avery's mommy & daddy are wonderful people and we look forward to our girls growing up together. They share a birthday you know!

Since Katherine was sleeping too much, David decided he'd entertain Avery for a while.
We went to church on Saturday night, then on Sunday morning, John took David to Adventure Landing while Katherine and I went back to church. I was working, Katherine was just hanging out. At Adventure Landing, David actually got to drive his own go cart! He had a blast.

Funny story, David had kept track of the cars that he passed on the track. He knew how many cars he passed and also what number the cars were. Sunday afternoon, he told me that he'd passed cars 13 and 20 (or whatever they were). I don't remember now, but I bet he does!

Another number story - on Saturday afternoon, we watched The Preakness. David loves to watch horse races. When John asked him to pick which horses will win he said, "20, 13, and 10. The same ones I went for last time." John and I looked at each other puzzled. Yep, we realized that when we'd watched the Kentucky Derby 2 weeks earlier, those were the 3 horses that David picked! When the favorites were shown on the screen though, he decided to go for those. The boy, he loves to win. He went for 7,12, and 8. We'll see if he remembers that when it's time for the Belmont Stakes.

Here's David with a Bumbo on his head?!?!

And here he is playing with his yo-yo ball.

Katherine's latest things are sticking out her tongue and pulling up her dress! She sticks her tongue out all the time - it's almost like she's imitating other people talking or something. Also, she will pull up her dress or shirt. She doesn't really use her hands very much yet, but she can find the bottom of her dress or shirt! She also kicks all the time. She may not very active with her hands, but she seems to be making up for it with her legs!!

That was our weekend, but another super fun event happened Tuesday night. John and I went on our first date night since Katherine was born! Our babysitter since David was a baby came over and kept the kids, and we went to our FAVORITE restaurant - The French Room. There simply are not words to describe the food there. I've read reviews, but they don't do it justice either. Believe me, this is a special occasion kind of place, but wow - for a special occasion, there isn't anywhere else I'd like to go! John's inch and a half steak was cut with a fork, my foie gras melted in my mouth. The food is indescribable, the service is impeccable, and the ambiance is perfect. There are not enough wonderful things about this place!!

That about covers it. I will do my best to update more often. You guys need to hold up your end of the bargain too though! Remember, you don't have to comment ALL the time, but every once in a while is just polite, right?!?!

Have a great Thursday!

Cute pictures! but where are the bows? :-)

Man - you have a great husband! That restaurant looks awesome - I stayed at the hotel on one of my interviews with PwC (in college) - it was an awesome hotel, but I only got breakfast. :-(

(How do you put the links with the words?)

Love the pictures of Katherine with her baby BFF Avery and David with the bumbo knoggin'. They are both so adorable. That's funny about the horse race numbers!
