Well, John surprised me. not only is he a good dad, he's phenomenal. In fact, generally speaking, I call him the lead parent when it comes to David. He gets very offended when people ask questions about David and only direct them at me. Like the doctor - that one really makes him mad! One time, the doctor even told him that maybe next time Mommy would be at the appointment so she could answer the questions. Ummm, dude, Daddy's perfectly (and more) capable!
Well, this apple didn't fall far from the tree. David is a phenomenal big brother! We thought he would be good, but we also thought that he might struggle with jealousy - especially since he's been an only child for almost 5 years. We were incredibly wrong. David is amazing with Katherine. He talks so sweet to her, loves to watch her, he'll repeat just about anything either one of us say to her affectionately. He's totally enamored by his baby sister and he brags about her all the time.
David calls Katherine "Baby Girl" all the time. I guess I've probably said it 1,000 times, but now he does, in a very cute sing-songy voice. I've tried to get it on video several times, but I haven't caught it yet and I don't want him to know I'm trying to get it! Then it would somehow sound forced and he probably would stop saying it.
So, I imagined this post with a video to go along with it, but I don't have one yet. Hopefully soon I'll be able to capture it. Anyone who has been around the two of them knows exactly what I'm talking about - he says it all the time!
He also has to give her a hug and a kiss (on the back of her head) any time he's going to be apart from her. He does it every night before bed, and also every morning when she and I are leaving to go to day-care. His end-of-school picnic is tomorrow and he actually asked me tonight if Katherine was coming. I told him no, she'll be at school. I think he was truly disappointed!
Someday, that kid will make a great father just like his. That is, if he ever moves out. He also told us he's decided that he'll live with us forever.
Ummm, I'm gonna go with "no" on that one.

That's great that your boys are as involved and loving as they are. It makes being a mother so much easier when you have a good support system doesn't it? I loved having Audrey simply because she's Audrey but I also loved seeing Cole become a big brother. It's wonderful to see them interact and hear their little "conversations".
David is such a sweet big brother. I can't imagine how wonderful it is to see them interact together. Awww!
I've got warm fuzzies all over. Cindy, do you know how lucky (or maybe I'm supposed to say "blessed") you are???
No fair. I went to see pictures of kids (and a dove on a nest)and I got some stories that made me cry. There is nothing more pleasing to God than a husband and wife that love and admire and respect each other as you and John have stated on your blogs. And then the tributes to you two moms.
