Mother's Day - Cindy

As most of you know, I lost my mom very suddenly 4 years ago. So Mother's Day is now a bit bittersweet for me. My first Mother's Day without my mom was also my first Mother's Day as a mom myself, so it has taken me a while to think of Mother's Day as a holiday for me and my kid(s) versus a holiday for my mom and MIL. This is my first Mother's Day with my mother's only granddaughter, so it's that much more bittersweet this year. Katherine and I have had a few "moments," as I like to call them, today. Even 4 years later, there are days when I really miss my mom. I call them "grief bursts" after a book I read about them. Of course, they come much less often now than they did 3 years ago, but sometimes they sneak up on me!

I'm sure you all know that John is "on" as usual, he surprised me with a Mother's Day Eve gift from the kids. He got me Photoshop Elements, which, ironically, I told my friend on Friday that was what I really wanted! I didn't say for Mother's Day, but I just said I really needed to get it.

So, I hope all you mothers had a wonderful Mother's Day with your kid(s)!! I cherish this day every year - a day to celebrate being moms and our wonderful children.

For the record - I wrote this post before John's VERY sweet post below, I just didn't get it published before he snuck one in on me! So, keep reading, John's an incredible husband.

I'll leave you with a couple of pictures of my mom for this Mother's Day (a day late).

This is my mom with a very tiny David!

Those are beautiful pictures of you and your Mom. What a tiny David! Yay for Photoshop Elements! You'll have to keep me updated as you learn some of its features!

*sniff* Nice pics. Makes me want to go thumb through a few photo albums myself.

I spent Mother's Day in bed with bronchitis... sorry I didn't call. =(
