I met a girl my freshman year of college named Madeline. When I met her, she probably thought I was a bit crazy because I think the first thing I said was...something to the effect of..."I love your name. If I ever have a daughter, I want to name her that. You okay with that?" However, that was ummm...a long time ago and see, naming trends have changed and now Madeline is hugely popular. Now, I'm fine with a hugely popular name, but I loved Madeline when I only had met one person with that name. Also, when pronounced with my last name it sounds sort of rhyme-y and I'm not really a fan of that either. So, there you go. I suppose my favorite name ever is off my list :-(
Something else to consider is her middle name. I think everyone who reads this knows I lost my mother very suddenly in February of 2004. When she died, my mom had 3 grandsons, each of whom she loved dearly. Each of them had a special place in her heart. However, my mom raised 2 girls. She didn't have the slightest idea what to do with all these boys. Also, she didn't live close to any of them, so she didn't stay very involved in their daily activities. My sister and I both knew that she really wanted a grand-daughter, and now that she's finally going to have one, she's not here to enjoy it. In honor of her, my daughter's middle name will be Carol.
This is my mom with David when he was 3 months old. She died when David was 7 months old.
Like I told my own sister - no one but John and me get a vote - but we are open to suggestions! Suggest away! I've just been looking at popular names by year on some website, and I tend to prefer traditional names. So, please, make suggestions in the comment section. I'd love to see what names everyone likes!

First, I would like to say that it knocked the breath out of me to open up your blog page and find a page of Mom. Wow. Just wasn't expecting that.
Thoughts / suggestions from the Austin crowd:
Jaclyn / Jacqueline (me)
Chandra (pronounced Shandra - from Conrad)
Grace (Conrad, but I love it too)
Sydney (me)
Josselyn (me, different spelling of one you like)
The youngest of my associate pastor's three children (after 2 boys) is Melia, which I think is kind of cool. I also like mom's name -- Stephanie.
Bradley would have been Lynleigh if he'd been a girl. I now think that would have been a mistake -- it's long and has to be spelled every time -- but I still think it's pretty.
Also, I wonder if you had considered Linda, in tribute to both your mothers. I know you still have Linda, but she's awesome too. =)
As long as you're thinking great women and tributes... Corlis?
From BigMama's comments:
Susan
Melanie
Jenna
Amanda
Andrea (don't like the flow of that one as much as some of the others)
Jill
Unless Sarah has decreased in popularity, I'd recommend against it; Conrad probably knows at least a dozen Sarahs. Sounds too much like Carol anyway.
Sorry for the long comment; I'm done for now. =)
Wow. You are been a busy blogger. I'm loving it!
Okay, your sweet baby girl has already become sweeter with the middle name of Carol. Ahhh, she will be so special and it all begins now. Thanks so much for sharing that decision.
The name game is so fun. I'm having a tough time matching a first name with as much impact as her middle. Maybe Lydia??? (Biblical) Molly?(you have to be cute if your name is Molly) Elizabeth??? (classicly beautiful). So fun...
If we had another girl, we were going to name her Elizabeth and call her Libby. Elizabeth has so many variations, and it's classic.
I also liked Charlotte, Samantha, and Catherine.
For biblical, there is Hannah, Ruth, Esther, Martha, etc. Those are all pretty.
I'm so happy for you! Love the blog.

First, wohoooooo for a girl! I have a cousin named Madeline and they call her Maddy. What about Caroline for the middle name? It would be a way to use Carol.
We were driving home from T-ball practice last night and I told Cole that David was getting a baby sister too! He said, "He'll like that!" Then I asked him what her name should be. He thought for a long time and said "I think his Mommy will pick a name" So no suggestions from Cole.
