First there was swimming and playing at the neighbors' house! David had a blast of course. He swam, he jumped on the trampoline. And the favorite, he flirted mercilessly with their 14 year old daughter who by the way totally freaked me out at the thought of someday having a 14 year old daughter of my own who wants to wear a swimming suit. In public. Where boys can see her. I shudder at the mere thought.
Then there was a movie date with mommy & David. We went to see Horton Hears a Who. David doesn't have the longest attention span for movies and every time he's gone to a theater, we have to entertain him with the snacks and tell him 387 times to sit down, be quiet, and/or stop kicking the seat in front of him. This weekend, he did GREAT!! I even caught him open mouthed totally engrossed in the scene a few times! He said he liked it.
After that, there was a little shopping for energy star appliances for tax-free weekend. There were no purchases of said appliances however. No matter how much I REALLY want one of those new fangled washer/dryer combos, I just can't justify 3 grand. Sad really. I spend quite a bit of time with the laundry. Now that there's a whole other person in our house, and this whole other person came with QUITE the clothing volume, I'm spending even more time with my good friend, the laundry. I should have something really cool with lots of buttons and lights to put the laundry in, no? Well, if the cool thing with lights and buttons costs 3 grand it's gonna take a little bit more to justify. I might have to figure out exactly what it is all those lights and buttons are doing.
Then, there was bowling. Now, David is possibly not the strongest 4-and-11-12ths athlete you've ever seen in your life, but that kid has some stamina when it comes to bowling! Where we went we had to pay by the hour, so we told David he could bowl for one hour. He got two balls so he could bowl them even faster. After one hour, he had bowled 7 games and a frame. My arm would be spaghetti after that much bowling!! Not this kid. Nope, he was doing just fine. Katherine LOVED all the lights and colors of the arcade there, so much fun was had by all.
After bowling there was shopping. We told David we were going to go and get him a sprinkler toy. He said, "No thank you." We were shocked. What 4-and-11-12ths-year-old doesn't want cool sprinkler toys to play with in the back yard? Have we come so far that our kids no longer think it's amazing summer fun to run back and forth over the rooster tail sprinkler that is also being used to water the grass?!? Once he figured out we meant a Slip-n-Slide, he was ready to go. We got one of those, 2 water guns, and another sprinkler thing-ie. Major amazing summer fun was had by all in the backyard. Katherine even had fun watching her brother get launched down the slip-n-slide.
Of course, the real reason we celebrate Memorial Day is to honor and remember those who are currently and historically serve in our military to preserve the freedoms that we all hold so dear. From my family to yours - thank you for your service.

I'm with you on the washer and dryer. For 3k it should load itself, wash, dry, fold and hang the clothes! David's got the doggy paddle down and that IS a lot of bowling. It sounds like a fun weekend. Just enjoy Katherine's chubby baby bikini days while you can.
David is quite the bowler. Wow! I'm with you on the stamina to bowl *that* much. It's amazing what all they can put on a washer/dryer now. When will "robot" makes its way into the description?! THEN I might buy one! haha! I love chubby bunny baby-kini pictures too. Your comment of the 14yr old make me laugh. I agree- boys can NEVER look at my daugther?! No no no!
Wow - posts 2 days in a row!! I don't know how to handle all of the excitement!!!
