It was the Summer of '69...Well, It was the Summer of '10

Wow, this whole blog thing looks a LOT different when you don't do anything to it for a couple of months!

Thanks so much for coming back by and checking to see if the Ferguson Four are still here...rest assured we are, but Mommy just hasn't been doing so great with the blogging!  It's not that I don't want to, really, it's just that we've been having so much fun this summer and I haven't stopped to reflect on it.  I'm hypothosizing that it's because I just don't want the summer to end!!  I can't believe David will start the 2nd grade so soon!  It just seems impossible.

At the beginning of July, we decided to go to a Frisco Rough Riders game with some friends and met for dinner first.

However, this was also the night that the Dallas area got like 7 inches of rain or something, so we took a rain check...literally.

We did have fun going out to eat though.  Brinley, Hannah and Katherine loved the toys outside!!

They also loved playing around inside.  What a great place...very loud so no one notices the three shrieking little girls running around the table.  Also a dark place, so, no pictures.

We've also done some shopping, which Katherine still says she LOVES to do!!  However, at the mall, she's easily distracted by the riding toys...

Also in July, I went to a Twilight Podcast taping in Allen.  Seriously, I love the books, the movies and I listen to a podcast about both of them.  Why YES!  I am 12 years-old...thankyouverymuch!

Here are me and my friend Sue waiting for them to start:

Why yes, I DID take that picture with the secondary camera on my new cool phone!

Here's the podcast people getting set-up:

From left, Andrew, some girl I didn't recognize, Elisa, Matt and some other girl from another Twilight podcast (yes, this book series is SO popular that there are multiple podcasts that do nothing but talk about it!!)

And the picture I took with the cast after the taping was over.  Hey, I told you I was 12.  I meant it.

This picture is just with the "regular" show members - Elisa, Andrew and Matt.

And yes, I do have a Twilight Eclipse shirt.  And no, I didn't get that myself.  Someone else actually thinks I'm nutty enough to have an occasion to wear such a shirt and got it for me!  10 points for whoever leaves the person's name that gave me the shirt in the comments!!

So over the summer this year, David got to choose how to spend most of his time.  His regular day-care has a weekly themed camp and TI also offers a weekly themed camp, so we let him pick (week-by-week) where he wanted to go.  He ended up 5 weeks at TI and 4 at day-care.  One week was the week of David that The Husband posted about before, one week was a trip to Lubbock, and another week was...well, we'll talk about that week in a minute.

Anyway, they did wear him out at TI.  They swam every day and had a field trip every week.  David really seemed to enjoy it.  One afternoon during an especially quiet drive home, I turned around and saw this:
And this:

Isn't that just adorable!!??

So our rain check make-up game for the Rough Riders game finally came and it was HOT instead of WET!  We had a great time!!  David even got to go on the field and run in a race!  I have a super cute video of the whole thing, but I haven't figured out yet how to get it loaded to the blog...some weird format.  Darn these complicated video thing-ies.

So here's a regular old picture of my cutie hubby and kids - red cheeks and all!

David decided that it was so hot he had to take his shirt off.  I'm not sure where this came from, but then Katherine wanted to do it too.

Here was another shopping trip where the kids were forced to entertain themselves.  Yes, they each are playing with an EVO.  That's how we roll.

Also in July, for a date night John and I decided to go eat at what I think has become John's favorite restaurant, Stephan Pyles.  It was wonderfully yummy, of course, that goes without saying, but even BETTER, was that Stephan Pyles was actually THERE!!!
AND I got to take a picture with him!  He was very gracious and nice, asking how we liked the food and the restaurant.  What I thought was funny was that we're pretty sure the table next to us had NO idea who he was.  I guess the chef suit didn't clue them in.

And here's our little diva before going to day-care one day:

Yes, she's wearing sunglasses and talking on her cell phone.  And no, I do not ever look like that.

For the end of the "Week of David", his cousin Lauren stayed with us for one night after her family went back to Lubbock.

For some strange reason, she thought she might have more fun with us than at a baseball tournament game in 106 degree heat.  Eh, maybe so, maybe not.  We did go eat and they seemed to enjoy the free ice cream dessert!

We decided to let David and Lauren sleep in the tent on the trampoline.  John even made them cookies!!  I just love this picture of them together - so cute!!  This one's gonna be shown at BOTH of their weddings!

And here's the scene:

They had fun, but no, they did not stay outside all night long.  Lauren came in first, probably around 10 and John went outside to play with David for a little while, and then they came inside too.

The next day, we headed out for Lubbock with three kids.  They were great!  Who knew they could be that good for a 5 hour car ride??
Now that's just adorable.  Then they played under Katherine's blanket:

In Lubbock, we stay at John's sister's house.  They are always so gracious and open with their home!!  This time, Lauren even gave up her bedroom for Katherine and me to sleep in.  I think Katherine was appreciative!

John's dad came to visit too and the children were so welcoming...sorta.  I thought this was funny - a line of kids playing various handheld games.  You can't tell from the picture, but Katherine is even holding one of our cell phones and playing with it too.

While we were in town, we also visited some dear friends. Katherine thought their dog was quite interesting!  She was fascinated by her bed and wanted to sit next to her and pet her.

Mrs. Cindy thought David was so cute and when they hugged I thought it was so cute!
And here's the whole crew.  The Boris's are some of the sweetest people in the world - thanks for letting us come visit!!!
I actually have a picture of John and me taken in front of that very fireplace at our engagement party about 15 years ago.  I would post it here, but it's not digital and I have NO idea where it is.  Ahhh, technology.

We had a lot of fun in Lubbock - we always do.  We visited with friends, spent time with family, ate some yummy food (One Guy's, Taco Villa, Orlando's), went swimming every day and enjoyed the "cool" weather.

We really had a great summer!  Just a couple of cute pictures...

For the week of the summer that I didn't want before, David went to church camp!!  This was a BIG deal for Mommy.  I didn't go to church camp until I was in high school, so sending my 7-year-old was a bit of a challenge for my little brain.  I knew he would be fine - he's a social butterfly and never has been the type of kid to need Mommy & Daddy with him all the time, but I was more worried about US!!

We missed him terribly of course and we sent him an email every day (there was no way for him to respond to us, but we could email him).  We also got to see pictures that they posted on the internet during the week.  We still need to buy those and post them on the blog too.

We picked him up on Saturday and this is what we found in the living room a couple of hours later.

Umm, yeah, I think they wore him out.

I'll leave you with a recent dinner favorite - breakfast for dinner at IHOP!  Did you KNOW that kids eat dinner free there every day?!  We love it.

I hope you had as wonderful of a summer as we did.

As I type this, David is preparing to start 2nd grade on Monday.  I can't believe that it's already time for him to go back - the summer really seemed to fly by this year.  When did my baby boy grow up??  This picture seems like yesterday!

At last--an end to my "blog withdrawal"--so glad to get your post and read the latest. No pressure intended for the very busy parents--but I have missed you! Great pictures as always--love Katie Beth and the diva posturing--and David napping-that is the best.
School may be starting, but we need to be planning the next gathering--maybe a Texas Tech football game or something. Love to all.

i have to agree wholeheartedly with Meme - it's been a r-e-a-l-l-y long time since your last blog.
i've been checking it about every day or every other day for (seemingly) months!

Both kids are growing up so fast!
The way they are going, it seems like they will both be graduating high school in the next week or so!

Thanks for the blog. Since it was so long since the last one, it's really worth looking forward to.

Cute pics! The trampoline tent is a great idea. I'm writing that one down for later. It's surreal how big both kids are, now. That last picture was quite a flash-back! You are too funny with the Twilight Podcast. Being 12 can be kinda fun. ;-)
