Brrrrrr!!

So what I didn't show you was what happened after we played in the snow on that fateful day in February when DFW reported a FOOT of snow!!!

This was all of our outdoor stuff drying out. Now I know why people in the North often have "mudrooms" in their house. This would drive me crazy!
Also, we did make some snow ice cream. I've never done this before, but John seemed to know exactly what to do. We had to hide the secret ingredients before I took this picture. No, it's not the cookies, but I'm glad you all now know how healthy we eat!

We started a fire for everyone to get warm...aren't my little boogers just so cute???
So that night, Katherine was making noise around 3AM, so I got up to check on her. I noticed a pretty large figure in our front yard. The only light was from the street lamp so I couldn't see very clearly, but I think it was a raccoon! It was there for at least 20 minutes that I saw. It looked like it was eating something, but I couldn't tell for sure. I got a few pictures - none of them are very good. I had the camera (no flash) propped on a chair and full zoom.
Ewwwww!!

Okay, so this story is just adorable...

I think I mentioned that we got the Wii game called Band Hero. It's Guitar Hero's version of Rock Band...very confusing, I had to have a teenager explain it to me.

Anyway, we have 2 guitars, a drum set and a microphone to go with our game. My favorite is to play the bass (it's the only instrument I can do on "easy"), John is getting pretty good at the guitar, David likes to play the drums (on "beginner"), so that leaves Katherine on vocals. Yes, it's a Ferguson Four Family Fun Night!!!

So Katherine really just YELLS INTO THE MICROPHONE nothing in particular. She actually gets pretty good scores on "beginner", which I just think is hysterical. I actually saw someone on American Idol say they thought they would make through to the next round because they score really well on a similar game. Ummm yeah right, you & my 2-year-old.

Well, we decided that we needed a microphone stand because we are trying to get a "career" going for our "band". Are you getting that this game is getting serious?? Katherine had lost interest, so I was going to play the bass and sing. Yep, I'm MULTI-talented...NOT!!

Well, when Katherine saw the stand, she was all about it. It was so funny - she was holding the mic on the stand just like a performer would. HYSTERICAL!

Yesterday (Wed, 2/17) we STILL had a snowman in our front yard! Today, it's about gone, but yesterday evening it was still taller than Katherine! Katherine & I have a routine to go get the mail together when we get home. Yesterday, she decided that she needed to wear Mommy's red scarf (NOT the black one, you understand). So I took the camera outside because, seriously, she's adorable.

Artsy black and white - same picture as above.
I've seen this effect on some photographers' websites and I just love it. I wish I could say I was trying to recreate something I'd seen, but this was completely an accident. I have no idea how I got her to be relatively in focus with the rest of the picture blurring by. I realize that I was moving the camera slightly when I snapped the shot, and Katherine was running toward me, but I don't think I could duplicate this effect if I tried a million times.
She's RUNNING toward the mailbox.
Ahh, pretty girl!
Now she's just hamming it up.

Love all the red scarf pictures. By accident is pretty much the only way I get those cool Artsy pictures.

At least you had an area in your house with tile to dry off all of your wet stuff from the snow - we have wood floors in every room except those tiny bathrooms. What a mess!!

Be sure to bring that nifty camera of yours to work with you every day in April - so you can come take some pics of little Colby at the hospital :)

Great photos! The B&W red scarf pic and the running-in-action pic are both great! Gosh I love digital cameras. They increase the chance of accidentally-awesome pictures. :-)
