I'm a little late posting these pictures, but I thought they were too fun not to skip back and tell you about them!
For a classmate's birthday party, David got to go rock wall climbing! When we walked in the door, the birthday boy was all the way at the top of a wall and was just starting to come down. David was yelling at him to "JUST DROP!! THE ROPE WILL CATCH YOU, USE YOUR LEGS TO BOUNCE DOWN THE WALL!!!" I guess David thought he knew all there is to know about rock climbing and repelling...
This is his second try.
Then Birthday Boy's dad started trying to help David get motivated to climb up the wall. He was very patient with David.
Wahoo!! Progress!!! David got about halfway up on this try.
Then we stopped all the rock climbing for a rope swing. All the kids took turns being latched on to a rope and swung back and forth. Then the guy would spin them around REALLY fast by grabbing their ankles and forcing them horizontal. David thought this part was WAY more fun than all the walls looking like rocks with all the climbing. He even tried to climb in the area where there weren't ropes. I couldn't convince him that this was actually the *advanced* area as the rocks were not perpendicular to the ground and required you to climb almost upside down.
After cookies and a snack, David tried the wall again with Birthday Boy's dad patiently talking and spotting him.
YIPPEE!! He made it all the way to the top!!!! Such excitement.
Also that weekend I took David to the driving range and to play a game of mini golf. This is a favorite thing to do on Sunday afternoon lately. David's had one lesson with a pro and he did very well. He remembers and uses several tricks the pro taught him and of course, his daddy is thrilled, so we'll probably continue that some.
Anyway, here we are approaching the 5th hole on the mini golf course. It's a par 3.
See the big right curve? That's the flag in the middle right of the picture. The "fairway" is on the left side of the picture.
Why is David standing right next to the flag?!?!?
BECAUSE HE GOT A HOLE-IN-ONE!!!!
What a super stud golfer this one is. He was so excited and reminded me about 100 times afterward that he'd made a hole-in-one, but I didn't make one. I'm pretty sure I at least got a bogie on this hole.
We didn't keep score, but it's entirely possible that I got beat by a 6-year-old on a mini golf course. Oh yes, it's true, I am NOT the golf stud in the family.

Way to go David! Making it to the top of the wall and a hole in one! WOW! Cole likes mini golf too. Audrey lays down next to the hole to see the golf ball after it goes in. Luckily, at this age Cole thinks it's funny and not totally embarrassing that his little sister does this.
Wow- wall climbing AND a hole in one! That's great!!
