Weekend in Review

The morning of the 4th, it's become a bit of a tradition with the Ferguson Four (even though this is the first one where there are 4 of us) to attend the Coppell parade. It's our city and we love it, so we support the parade every year. It's HOT, we get pretty gross, but David gets a ton of candy (that he'll never eat) thrown at him and we always love to watch the fire trucks and the CHS band. This year was no exception, a good time was had by all.Katherine weathered the heat quite well. We had plenty of water of course and we drizzled it over her head a few times. David had a great time as he always does outside!
John brought the umbrellas - he's such a boy scout like that.
On Friday night, as sort of a last minute decision, we packed up the kids and went to watch a fireworks show in Farmers Branch. You don't hear much about Farmers Branch. There might be a reason. The show was fine, but it wasn't great. We weren't in the main viewing area or anything, but it really just wasn't very good. BUT, the kids (well, just David, Katherine slept through the whole thing) got to see some fireworks, so we were happy with that.

On Saturday night, in another last minute decision, we again dragged our two small children out at 9:30 at night to watch the Lewisville fireworks show. The website wasn't very specific about where they would launch, just that it could be seen throughout southern Lewisville. They did not disappoint! It was a great show. From where we parked, there were a couple of trees obstructing the view, so John and David walked a little bit while I stayed in the car with Katherine. I took some pictures, but without a tripod, behind two trees, they weren't great. It was a great show though - GO Lewisville!

In other weekend news, we are all now "professional" bowlers on the Wii. David was the first, and he can still beat John and me, but we finally all made it to pro status. You get a shiny ball, it's quite cool. There's a whole Wii world out there! We went looking for Wii Fitness, but apparently, it's as difficult to find as the Wii used to be, so we're out of luck for now. Let me know if you see one!
After David saw this screen, he IMMEDIATELY ran to John and said, "DADDY, DADDY, only NINE more points to go to get to twelve hundred!!" He didn't even think about it - he knew right when he saw 1191 that 1200 was only 9 away. Seriously? Where does he get that? I need a calculator for 1200 minus 1191.

We missed church on Saturday night for a birthday party for one of David's BFF's. We had a great time! John & Katherine stayed home out of the heat which turned out to be a good idea. I think the temperature got up to 367 degrees. Whew! I had a good time getting to know a couple of the other moms in David's class, and David has neglected to tell me all this time that there are twins in his class. Well, one of them is in his class. The other one is in another class. He's asked me a bunch of questions about twins lately - what makes them twins and such. Then, we saw one of them and I asked David if it was K (I won't put the kids' names here) and he said, "Yes, either K or C." I asked him what he meant, and he told me that they look alike and they dress alike, but you can tell which one is K and which one is C when they talk. (Personally I couldn't tell them apart at all, but whatever.) I said, "David, they're twins!" He was shocked. WA-HUH?!?! I told their mom that I just thought I saw K a lot, I never realized there are two of them! Yes, they dress alike every day.

So, that's about our weekend in a nutshell. Sunday morning, we had a little photo shoot with my adorable kids. The rest of the day was pretty restful.
Sunday evening, Katherine tried out a toy she's never played with before. And of course, mommy had to capture the moment.

What a fun filled weekend! We have a Wii and I didn't even know that you could get to pro status. I'm either oblivous or a terrible bowler? I'm checking that when I go home :)

Sounds like a fun (and hot) tradition plus fun spontaneity w/the fireworks. Nice balance! The pictures are great of course. I can tell David is really loving the parade. Wow – Pro bowlers!! Very awesome!!

It's good to have traditions. I never thought about a parade on the 4th of July. Audrey slept through most of the fireworks too. We were so close Cole asked if they were going to come down and tickle us. David and Katherine look super cute and patriotic!

Hi, Cindy! Thanks for the blog invitation. Sally has told me all about you and your kids are just adorable. It looks like you had a great weekend! You have probably been before, but the Lake Grapevine fireworks show is also wonderful. We went on Friday night and sat on top of the dam. There were a ton of boats on the lake and the view was spectacular!
