Paying for our Raising

To catch up.  You know, before the whole horrible bug debacle at our house.

Meme came to visit last weekend.  David took this opportunity to challenge her to a serious game of Hungry, Hungry Hippo.  It was a nail-biter.  I took this picture in the heat of the action.  David even has his tongue sticking out to concentrate.

Katherine took the competition in stride.  You can almost hear her thinking, "You people are amateurs.  You just wait until I figure out where my hands are!  You're going DOWN!!"
The next day, she found her air guitar again.
Fast forward to this evening.  This picture doesn't do her justice.  This girl is beautiful!
Speaking of beautiful, when I was a baby...

Oh, I joke...

Seriously, I do think I'm paying for my raising.  My mother, my father and my sister will all tell you that when I was a baby I was less than desirable to be around.  I was colicky, I was in pain, and I was loud.  Not only that, but I had some terribly foul smelling formula.

Well, Katherine doesn't have the foul formula, but other than that, she's following in my footsteps.  I've heard of babies with colic who will scream for hours on end.  Katherine doesn't do that (thank God), but the last 2 nights, she's cried for about an hour.  Solid.  You have to hold her on your shoulder, standing up (preferably walking).  I hear her Aunt Amie might have been the same way.  The last picture above was actually taken outside.  It was the most calm I saw her all evening. We decided that maybe she's sleepy and we're keeping her awake too late, so tonight, we consolidated her 2 feedings into 1 and put her to bed about an hour and a half earlier than normal.  We'll see if she still sleeps until 6:20 or so!

I thought of you guys this morning because Cole was telling me all about playing Chutes and Ladders at Gramma's house. You spin, go that many spaces, etc... and a Chute is like a SLIDE! We should get the boys together for a couple games although I'm pretty sure David would show Cole that he really knows NOTHING about the game! Happy 12 week birthday Katherine!
