Let's see - this weekend John's BIL and kids were all in town for a baseball tournament. We did go to one game, although we apparently didn't pick a good one to attend! Josh got a home run in the game we missed and his team lost the one we went to. Oh well - it was so fun to watch him play. I can't believe how much all three of those kids have grown up -- and we just saw them at Christmas! David had a great time playing with his cousins while they were here.
Sunday we ran some errands before David's 4:00 soccer game. I'll show you sometime between Friday and Monday what I got! I won't get it until Friday so that's why the suspense. Suffice it to say that John spoils me rotten and I LOVE IT! He rocks - I have the best husband in the world (well, at least I think so).
Sunday night was a bit less exciting. I decided to move Katherine to her room. David's coughing (he does this quite often) so I was trying to keep her pretty quiet so she wouldn't wake him up and start the hacking. Neither one of us did all that great. I spent almost the whole night sleeping in the recliner in her room. Not exactly my idea of good parenting.
Yesterday (Monday) Katherine and I stayed home all day and John had jury duty. We had a good day, and I did spend some time letting her "cry it out" to see how she'd take it. The girl has some lungs. They might have come into the world a little undercooked, but they've caught up...believe me, they are STRONG!
John ended up staying downtown until about 8:00. Long story, but he was not picked for the jury that he was there for - thank goodness. They were estimating a 2-3 week trial! Anyway, when I picked David up from school, he had a note that he'd been coughing all day long and he was pretty bad at at nap time. They kept having to have him sit up and he couldn't stop coughing. Now, in all fairness, David does have a cough. It's semi-chronic and we see a specialist and our pediatrician regularly to assess what might be the cause. We've never really been sure yet. However, David does sometimes embellish the cough, so I didn't get TOO concerned. Well, last night was probably the worst night of his coughing life. We were up several times with him re-medicating, doing breathing treatments, etc. To make matters worse, I put Katherine back in our room so she wouldn't wake David up and she woke up at 1:00!! That's TWO hours earlier than she's been waking up. She wasn't really hungry, but she was crying and overall being a bit unlike herself. I did calm her down (a few times) and didn't end up feeding her until 4:15, but it was a very long night.
John worked from home today, David stayed home from school, and I took David to the doctor. He changed some of his medicines and added another breathing treatment so hopefully we'll have a better night tonight. Poor little boy!
He's pulled some David-ism's tonight. He told the mother of a little boy at the doctor, "I have a baby too! Her name is Katherine Elizabeth Ferguson. She can hold her head up!!" He went to Walgreens with John and saw a closer parking place and said, "Daddy, why did we park so far away? LOOK!" like he was so put out that he had to walk too far.
Here are some pictures from the last 3 days.
Josh's baseball game. I wish this was a picture of the at bat when he got a home run, but it's not.
David has his cousin playing his DS. They are SO great together!!
