Hospital Update - Cindy

First of all, my diagnosis is “Posterior reversible encephalopathy or “PRES”. Feel free to call it “big head syndrome” if you’d like!!

I am doing well. For some reason, the wi-fi doesn’t really work in the room they put me in on the post partum wing. It’s been painful, believe me! However, it’s probably a blessing because it has forced me to rest. That is, until I realized I could write a post in Word, then walk out into the hall and post it to the internet. Takes all of 3 seconds.

As I write this, it’s Tuesday night, just after 11pm. John, his mom, David, and Katherine are all at home. I’m here getting another full night of rest so that my blood pressure can get under control and hopefully I can go home tomorrow. I can’t even begin to tell you how ready I am!

Everyone knows it’s difficult to go home without your baby – but I’ve now gone home without my baby AND my baby has gone home without me. Both just stink and that’s all there is to it. I know she’s in VERY capable hands – John is the most amazing dad I’ve ever seen – but of course, I just want to be there for my daughter. John understands how significant “coming home” is for me though and he’s said that she hasn’t really “come home”, she’s just staying there overnight. Her actual “Coming Home” – complete with her “Coming Home outfit” will not happen until I go home too. Isn't he just the greatest?!?!

People have asked me what they can do for us. I’ll tell you what you can do – and this is HUGE. Please, please, please, pray for my recovery. This blood pressure has to be stable and controlled for 24 hours before my doctor will let me go home. Even then, I have to be on limited activity until we’re sure that my blood pressure isn’t going to spike. I then have to have another MRI in 2-4 weeks to confirm the swelling has gone down. My doctor is working very diligently and aggressively to control the pressure, but I know God can do even better than her. Any amount of time that you would have spent cooking a meal, calling to order flowers, or shopping for a gift, please spend praying for my blood pressure and Katherine’s continued health. I’m so very appreciative for everything that has been done for us so far – talk about raining blessings – I’m soaked – but right now, I just need prayer - and LOTS of it.

Thank you to all of you – I’m grateful and consider myself extremely extraordinarily blessed to be surrounded by such amazing people.

Now for REST!!!

That is so cute about the going home party delay until mommy gets to be apart. So sorry about your headache, Cindy. And can't imagine your baby going home without you...you're right, that is a double whammy. God is being overloaded with requests for you.

More love.
