Mommy's Four Day Weekend

Daddy missed out on a weekend this week.  Poor Daddy.  He had both kids all weekend while Mommy went on a fabulous, wonderful, fun, recharging scrapbooking weekend!  I went with friends (shout out Monica & Danna!) and had such a great time.  We arrived about 10:30AM on Friday and left about 2:00 on Sunday.  I actually completed 32 pages.  For those of you that don't know, I scrapbook at an average pace of 1 page per hour.  That's a lot of hours, but I've finally made some progress on Katherine's album, so that's VERY exciting to a Mommy!

The place we stayed (The Sisters' Hideaway) is owned by my friend's BFF and her sister.  It was amazing.  If anyone wants advice on a place to go for such a weekend, look no more.  They have thought of *everything*.  They have flashlights at the top of the stairs for girls going to bed after everyone else in their room, they have earplugs in the rooms for obvious reasons, they have small fans available everywhere for those hot-natured (or noise-canceling) people, they have dixie cups in the bathroom, they have a tankless hot water heater (SO smart with 14 women showing in one house), oh and the FOOD, don't even get me started on the FOOD!  I ate my weight in yummy home-cooked meals this weekend.  Desserts, sides, snacks, soft drinks...wow.  This place was great.  I'm going back.

On the home-front, super-Dad did laundry, grocery shopping, gift buying, gift wrapping and birthday party-ing in my absence.  I'm tired just reading that!  David was great.  He was on his best behavior and helped entertain his sister.  John sent me a couple of pictures throughout the weekend to keep me up to date.  That was *really* fun - to get pictures from home!  What did we do before cell phones again?

As a matter of record keeping, Katherine and David are opposite in so many ways!  As I mentioned in the previous post, David really wasn't one to get in to things and Katherine is in to everything!  Just over the weekend, John had to take handles off cabinet drawers, start closing bedroom doors and move our carbon monoxide detector.  She's everywhere!  Also, David was a very orderly baby.  We suspected OCD at a very young age with that one.  He would get agitated when we took his shoes off and left them in the living room.  This was at about 12 months!  Katherine, on the other hand, thrives in chaos!  She opens drawers just looking for things to take out of them.  She doesn't want to play with the things she removes, she just wants everything strewn all over the floor instead of inside a drawer, cabinet or in a neat stack.  She throws toys aside when she's done with them, she doesn't just put anything down.  Even while John was wrapping the birthday gift this weekend, this was the picture he sent me.

Keep in mind, this girl can't even walk yet.

Speaking of that, tonight, she stood alone for several seconds several times.  She'd lean on me or John for support, then start doing something else and forget and let go.  She'd stand there for 10-15 seconds or so and then either fall or grab on to something.  It really won't be long until she starts walking and then we're REALLY in for it!

I'm glad your scrapbooking "camp" went well! The picture of Katherine is hilarious. Oh the entertainment that is toilet paper. She is one busy little girl!

The other three of us think that Mommy is the one that missed out!! David was super good using his manners and he was in great control of his emotions all weekend. We played Wii way past bed time and ate meals in front of the TV for every meal, stuff that would never happen on Mommy's watch. That little girl though, she keeps us busy, but she is sooo cute.....

The Meme thinks you are all pretty grand--Mommy got a fabulous scrapbooking weekend--the envy of all the "scrapping" girls in the family (and 32 pages-can't wait to see the results), while Daddy entertained the kids--what a dream!!
Seeing the picture of Katherine and the toilet paper is a blast from the past--some 36+ years ago, her Aunt Amie was caught in the same pose--I may still have the picture!!
