Finally, We Caught a Smile on Camera!

And what a smile it is!!While the boys were at church this morning (John was working and David was trying to accumulate as many tickets as possible in 2 days - long story) Katherine and I were playing in the floor and she was doing so well in her Bumbo that I decided to capture it on camera. Well, little did I know that she would actually crack a smile for me!! Wow - usually when she sees any kind of recording equipment, she totally becomes stone-faced. It's the funniest thing!

I guess she was in a charitable mood this morning though, she was giving the smiles free of charge!
This was taken one morning last week. We had just gone in to David's room, but Katherine and I needed to leave. Of course, he has to have a hug and kiss first, so we got this little gem of a picture. David's squinting since he just woke up and Katherine is so happy sitting next to her big brother!

Back to Father's Day...

Since it was SO HOT today, we all went outside for some slip-n-slide time. Katherine even had her swimsuit on. John had this brilliant idea to put water in her tub to use as a mini pool outside. Well, our little princess isn't so much for the freezing cold water from the hose. She screamed, but John put her in it anyway - it was HOT outside! She and I didn't stay out there long, but David was quite creative with his point system for sliding, and for his use of more than one sliding aid.
Katherine started doing so well in her exersaucer today. She spent more time in it today than she has in her whole life! She was spinning the music maker by herself. Quite a milestone!
I haven't done a Davidism in a while, so here's a doosie for you.
He and I were in the car, going to pick up McDonalds for dinner (cuz I'm a great mom like that) and he wanted to go in the van, but I told him we needed to go in the car because gas is almost $4 per gallon and when you buy 17 gallons, that a lot of money! He said, how much would 20 gallons be? I said, "Well, what's 2 times 4?" knowing that he wouldn't know. He said, "8." I slammed on the brakes and came to a stop, throwing him forward (we were just in the driveway). He said, "What, Mommy?" I asked him, "What's 2 plus 4?" thinking maybe he just got that wrong and it happened to be the right answer for 2 times 4. He said, "6 Mommy, duh!" I asked him how he knew what 2 times 4 is and he said, "Because I'm so smart."
Yep, he is. We tested him some more later to see if it was just a fluke. He appears to understand multiplication, but just the 2's. We asked him 3 times 4 and he said 7, but he did know all the 2's we asked him.
Oh dear, public kindergarten, here we come!
