Later, we were playing with his Curious George Uno cards. He put them all in stacks by numbers - so there are 4 "1" cards, 4 "2" cards, etc. There are 9 stacks of these cards. So John asks him - if there are 4 in each stack, let's count them that way. He pointed to the first two stacks, "What's 4 + 4?" David quickly answered "8." Then John said, "Okay, add 4 more." David counted on his fingers, then "12". This went on until we did all 9 stacks and David said, "That's right - there ARE 36 cards!!" So I said, "David, that means that 4 times 9 is what?" He said, "36!!" I'm not sure he got all that, but he seemed to be thinking about it. Then we tried, "What's 36 + 10?" He started to count on his fingers. We told him not to use his fingers...what's 30 + 10 (we know he knows that). He said "40." So what's 36+10? The 6 will stay the same...he still counted on his fingers. After he figured it out, he said, "well, then 76 + 10 is 86!!" All this, and I didn't have a video camera!!
Here he is with his new fun evening activity - a kindergarten math workbook:
Check out these eyelashes...I'm so jealous!
Also, just for grins, we were able to get the curtains up in the baby's room this weekend. I need to get some tie-backs, so this isn't a completed project, but I just love how it looks so far!!
I also took a picture of all the pink clothes hung in her closet. How cute!!
I guess that's all for tonight. I'll see y'all in the morning!!
